If your address has changed, you need to notify the IRS to ensure you receive your tax
refund and IRS correspondences on time. There are several ways to notify the IRS of an
address change:
1. When Filing Your Tax Return, enter your new address.

You can file Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, electronically using
personal tax filing software to amend your Form 1040, 1040-SR, 1040-NR, or 1040-SS/PR for
the current or for tax periods up to two years prior. For details on filing your amended return,

To receive the Child Tax Credit, your child must be under age 19 or, if a full-time student, under
age 24. There is no age limit if your child is permanently disabled.
If your tax refund check is lost, stolen, or destroyed, contact the Personal Income Tax
Information Center at 518-457-5181. You will need a copy of your most recently filed tax
return when you call.
If you have verified any errors, the first step is to contact your employer (or their
HR/payroll department) to make them aware of the issue and to place a request for them to
send a new, correct W-2 form before the end of the tax period.
You can calculate your loss by subtracting your sales price from the original purchase
price, known as “cost basis,” and by reporting the loss on Schedule D and Form 8949 on
your tax return. If your crypto losses exceed other investment gains and $3,000 of regular
income, you can deduct the remainder of the losses in subsequent years
